People in broken mental states often have trouble expressing themselves very well with words. Some can't find the right ones, some have no frame of reference, and some, if their mental state is too severe, actually can't do any talking at all.
My goal with this blog is to do the talking for them. To make pointed and specific posts explaining in easy-to-understand analogies and descriptions the actual sensations, feelings, and experiences from my own point of view as someone living with severe and life-disrupting depression, anxiety, and mental illness in general. To speak for those who cannot speak.
My hope that someone who needs help with their words will read a post, see themselves in it, and be able to simply send a link to a family member or friend to read. That way they can just say "Here, read this - this is me," instead of enduring extra pain in trying to express themselves directly in unfamiliar and scary ways.
More people in your circles suffer from depression or mental illness of some kind than you might think. Some are undiagnosed and in denial. Some just hide it very well. Others may be aware of the problem, but would like to be a bit more open about it to friends or family. It's the latter group this blog is intending to help most specifically, though I would hope it would be helpful to the others as well, at the very least in the knowledge that someone out there knows what it's like.
So if any of my posts help you, or you think someone you know would identify with them, don't hesitate to share. I get nothing out of it but knowing that I helped someone make their feelings a little more understandable.
Understanding is the key.
